About

Free chess analysis, built for the love of the game

Chessblood gives every player a full Stockfish review of their games, as often as they like, without an account, an advert or a subscription. This is who makes it and how that is possible.

Who builds Chessblood

Chessblood is an independent project, started in 2025 and built by the Chessblood Team, the same people who write the articles on the blog. We are not affiliated with Chess.com, Lichess or the Stockfish developers. We use their public services and software, and we are grateful for them.

The idea is simple. Engine analysis is the most useful study tool a chess player has, and the strongest engine in the world is free software, so a full game review should not be rationed or kept behind a subscription. Chessblood exists so that you can review every game you play, see exactly how each grade was decided, and keep your games to yourself.

Why it is free

Engine time is the expensive part of game analysis. On Chessblood it is spent on your own device: Stockfish 19 is compiled to WebAssembly and runs inside your browser. Our side serves the pages and the engine files and runs a small API for game imports, share links, puzzles and the contact form. Those costs stay small however many games you review.

So there is no premium tier to upsell, no advertising, and no account to build a profile around. Every tool is available to everyone. The free chess analyzer page lists exactly what that includes, and what it does not.

How we work

Four principles behind every page on the site.

What powers it

  • Stockfish 19, the open-source engine, in the WebAssembly build maintained by the stockfish.js project. Read how the engine thinks.
  • chess.js for move generation and legality, in the browser and on the server.
  • The Chess.com and Lichess public APIs for importing your games by username.
  • The cburnett piece set by Colin M.L. Burnett, which many players will recognise from Lichess and Wikipedia.

Get in touch

Bug reports, corrections to a guide or an article, and ideas for new tools all help. Use the contact form or email hello@chessblood.com.

If you find a line in one of our opening guides that has been refuted, or a grade that looks wrong, include the position or the game. Chess content should be correct, and specific reports are the quickest to fix.

Ready to see what the engine thinks?

Import a game from Chess.com or Lichess, or paste a PGN. The review takes under a minute and runs entirely in your browser.
